CONSERVATION  WORK      CV and brief History

Michael is currently in CApe Town working for KELP and SOS while busy with paintings to be sold to raise money and awareness for marine wildlife

While educating people from various backgrounds but largely disadvantaged communitiews he has been developing a marine wilderness program linking people to nature through marine wildlife and developing this into a marine wilderness program

ARTWORK

Painting of Dr Ian Player -
This painting has been bought by the Magqubu Ntombela Foundation and is displayed at the entrance to the Ian Player / Magqubu Ntombela Library
at the Ewing McKeown offices, 28 Old Main Road, in Hillcrest. The library was opened on 5 June 2008.

The painting was sold for R22 000 and half of this (R11 000) has been donated to the Wilderness Leadership School to fund the training of a guide.

A limited edition of 100 Giclee prints may also be sold and half of what is raised used for WLS projects.
          

Painting of Magqubu Ntombele -
A painting of Magqubu Ntombela is being completed at the moment. The plan is to sell this and donate half to Wildlife conservation.

Bottlenose Dolphins

The painting, Bottlenose Dolphins was entered into the Wildlife Artist of the Year 2008 competition held by The David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. It was selected for the exhibition held at the Mall Galleries in London on 24 June at which the prize winners were announced.
 

          
         

 

 

It did not win a prize but was sold at the exhibition for £1350 Pounds - R20 000. Half of this (£675 pounds - R 10 000) will be used by DSWF for their conservation projects.

The Wildlife Artist of the Year exhibition was held alongside the Three Generations exhibition at which paintings by David Shepherd, his daughter Mandy and eldest grand-daughter Emily Lamb were sold. A total of £75000 was raised for wildlife.
